Right application, right sizing
We size heat pumps to the cooling load and verify heating capacity at design temperature. For homes with existing gas, dual-fuel setups with an outdoor thermostat give you the efficiency of a heat pump above balance point and gas below it.
Commissioning and controls
Heat pump commissioning matters more than any other equipment type. Charge by subcooling, verify defrost, set backup heat lockouts, and program thermostat staging so strip heat doesn't run when it shouldn't.
